Stem Cells Clinical Trials in Retinal Degenerative Diseases – Review

Retinal Degenerative Diseases – Review
The retina is converting light signals into neural signals, which are then transmitted to the brain.
The retina is located in the inner surface of the eye and is part of the central nervous system (CNS).
Any defects involved in photoreceptors and transmission in the retina will lead to visual impairment. Currently, retinal degenerative diseases which involve neuron-cells death are the major causes of blindness in the western world.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
Among the …

Congestive heart failure treatment with mesenchymal stem cells – phase II results

The randomized, placebo-controlled Phase 2 trial compared the safety and efficacy of three doses of Revascor™ on top of maximal approved therapies versus maximal therapies alone in the patients, all with moderate-to-severe congestive heart failure.
Mesoblast Limited  announced positive Phase 2 heart failure trial results of its allogeneic, or off-the-shelf, adult stem cell product Revascor™ (mesenchymal stem cells) after all patients had completed a minimum follow-up of 12 months.
Treatment pooled across all doses in 45 patients …
